ZASKA
As a 90’s child of Bavarian descent growing up in Wicklow, ZASKA seems to have come from a different place and era altogether. His unique stage identity of Guitarist + Frontman paired with his off-stage Composition + Arrangement talents has made him a complete musical anomaly in the Irish scene.
Having completed a B.A. in Jazz Performance in Newpark Music Centre, he has found a way of channelling complex and unconventional composition techniques through a feel good blend of Future Soul and Funk reminiscent of Hiatus Kaiyote, Snarky Puppy and Steely Dan.
Former members boast a rich catalogue of some of Ireland finest talent including Andrew Hozier Byrne (Hozier),
Karen Cowley (Wyvern Lingo) and Dylan Lynch (Little Green Cars).
With an entertainer’s soul fuelled by a supernova of raw energy backed by an 8-piece supergroup of Dublin’s most in demand professional musicians, Zaska’s famous live shows are a force to be reckoned with.
After the release of his debut EP In Your Own Sweet Time along with a sold out launch gig in The Sugar Club in May
2014 he took the Irish gig circuit by storm leaving audiences calling him the “best live act in Dublin”. He then capped the year off with the release of his 2nd EP Different Light in November, which was named Goldenplec’s Irish EP of 2014.
2016 has been Zaska’s busiest year to date, having released his newest single “Got To Go” in March to great critical acclaim, followed by a string of festival performances including Body and Soul, Down With Jazz, Groove Festival, Longitude, Knockanstockan, Howth Blues and Jazz Festival, Electric picnic, Canalaphonic and Cork Jazz festival. To cap off the year he has just launched a Fund It campaign for his debut album which he plans on recording live with 20 + of his favourite Irish musicians and release In early Summer 2017.
