Three Dynamic Women : Heffernan / Nelson / Tobin

About this event

Three dynamic women at the peak of their powers

Christine Tobin really transcends glib genre-fication. Her expressive range acknowledges finely acquired folk, jazz and 20th-century classical influences, which already sets her apart.

Carole Nelson is, without question, and as the refined language of her writing and playing constantly reiterates, a singular voice, unencumbered by tradition, style or fads"

‘One needs certain qualities to interpret the classic standards besides a superlative voice, that is. A sense of drama, certainly, a sense of empathy with the emotions the songs evoke – loss, the transient nature of pleasure, love, attachment, most of all perhaps a sense of fidelity to the emotions themselves. Honor Heffernan has all of these in spades, but brings to her interpretations a beautiful, classical sense of detachment.

With Cormac O Brien on bass and Dominic Mullan on drums.
