About this event
Connolly's of Leap are delighter to begin their 'Sunday Afternoon Jazz sessions' with.... Isotope
Isotope comprises a stellar frontline of Richie Buckley on tenor saxophone, Hugh Buckley on guitar and Myles Drennan on piano, complemented by the double bass of Dave Fleming and the drums of John Philip Murray. The quintet performs a wide range of interpretations of the standards, sprinkled with some original tunes by Hugh and Richie.
Isotope mixes sensitive ballads with raucous swinging bop tunes and everything in between. On-the-spot improvisations mean that no two performances are the same, adding to the electricity of the night. Soloists nudge, cajole and encourage one another, to produce their interpretations.
The quintet has existed in many forms since the 1970’s and its longevity is a testament to its popularity, based on the level of musicianship displayed. An Isotope concert is full-on, no holds barred - making good music is the only concern.
The musicians wish, is to enjoy themselves and for the audience to have a good time too.
