Jazz in Whelan’s – A Night of ‘Antonio Carols Jobim’
At a glance
About this event
Antonio Carlos Jobim is arguably the most important composer in Brazilian music. Jobim helped shape contemporary popular music in Brazil, and his influence on Jazz music is the most prominent coming from someone born outside the U.S.
Johnathan Batista Group is one of the most refreshing ensembles in Irish contemporary improvisation-based music. Mixing popular culture, jazz, bossa-nova and contemporary art music, the group searches for a dialectical balance between playful rhythms and sophisticated ideas.
With Batista's new arrangements for Jobim's Standard repertoire and a few hidden gems in Jobim's oeuvre, this night will celebrate diversity and cultural exchange, with some special guests joining the fun!
