About this event
From USA, piano sensation Eric Reed featuring, Eric Reed (piano) John Moriarty (Irl), guitar; Vincenzo Florioa (Ita), bass and Adam Pache (Aus), drums
Eric Reed has a striking, identifiable style that is expressive and swinging yet can also be lyrical or intro- spectiveâ JazzTimes
Mr. Reed is an intensely upbeat presence. Where most jazz pianists after McCoy Tyner and Herbie Hancock grew introspective, he has gone the other way, toward harder work with the right hand and bright harmonies. NY Times
One of the most in-demand pianists in New York, Eric Reed came to prominence as a member of the Wynton Marsalis band in the early nineties, with whom he recorded seminal albums including âStandard Time Vol 5 and 6â; and âLive At The Village Vanguardâ. Countless other collaborations include those with luminaries Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Elvin Jones, Ron Carter and others. More recently, Reed was a member of Christian McBrides âInside Straightâ. Outside the sideman role, Reed has recorded over twenty albums as a leader, as well as producing major movie scores and teaching as a faculty member of the prestigous Juilliard School of Music.
In Summer 2015, Reed will make his first visit to Ireland in a quartet setting with Irish guitarist John Moriarty, Italian bassist Vincenzo Florioa and Australian drummer Adam Pache. Downbeat magazine describes Moriarty as âAn excellent player, dynamically varied and adventurous within his chosen idiomatic domainâ on his debut album âEchoesâ which features Pache on drums. This collaboration will undoubtably be one of the swinging-jazz highlights of 2015.
