About this event
The Lewis Barfoot Swing Quintet returns to Swingcopation for the second time as part of the Cork Jazz Festival, with a fresh and playful set of classic golden age jazz. Danceable, elegant & timeless, with stunning vocals, superb musicianship & a playfully infectious energy that keeps the swing dancers dancing. Playing songs for lindy hop, balboa, shag, charleston and blues.
At the heart of this unique quintet is Lewis Barfoot — a London-Irish singer, composer and swing dancer based in Cork. Best known for her spellbinding folk performances (two studio albums, BBC & RTÉ support), Lewis has stepped seamlessly into jazz, winning hearts with her silky-pure vocals, irresistible joie de vivre and playful stage presence.
She’s joined by the masterful J.Q. Whitcomb (USA) on trumpet, Camil Kieylta (Hungary) on double bass, Eric Doyle (Ireland) on guitar and Jimmy Christie (Ireland) on drums.
