About this event

Looking for something a little different for the Cork Jazz Festival this year? Why not see a dance performance?

Right after the Radio Hermitage show you can stay for a hot jazz night "Cotton Club Dancehall".

€30 for Radio Hermitage and Cotton Club events combined

This year's edition features the Dizzy Birds from Berlin – Sweet and Hot, the music of the good times. One of the most respected Jazz bands in Europe. You can dance your feet away or just enjoy the concert with a glass of wine.

The Cotton Club in Harlem was a New York City night club which operated in the golden era of Jazz. Here was a place where celebrities could rub shoulders while enjoying the best live music in the land.

We're excited to be bringing back the Cotton Club to the Jazz Festival- in past years the night attracted the most vibrant and fun loving people attending the festival, many of whom were Swing Dancers from across the island of Ireland. We look forward to seeing familiar faces recreate the spirit of the great Jazz Dance Halls in the Firkin Crane, home of dance in Cork.

Grab your good-time buddies, don your best bib and tucker, frock and fascinator, and get ready for the most memorable night of the Festival
Special guests include Ksenia Parkhatskaya & Manuel Micheli- who are giving FREE classes on Saturday at Firkin Crane (the perfect opportunity to learn some fun steps to bring to the Cotton Club dance hall- see our online programme for details).

Hosted by Firkin Crane & Cork Jazz Dance Exchange in partnership with the Cork Jazz festival.

Firkin Crane, the home of dance in Cork, is a place where dance artists, dance audiences and dance enthusiasts can make, see and join in dance of all kinds. Firkin Crane is unique as a resource for dance in Ireland in that it has a stage dedicated to the year-round presentation of dance.  In addition it has smaller performance spaces, an exhibition space and four dance studios, all housed in a distinctive heritage building.  These resources are important because of what they support people to do: to experiment with, to create and to enjoy dance in its many forms.
