About this event

MOBO and Urban Music Award nominated NI drummer/composer David Lyttle is a one-man music industry. For 2 decades, he has worked with the greatest and best, championing new talent along the way.

David has toured across the world, performing in Europe, America, Russia, the Middle East and Asia.

Celebrated as one of Ireland’s key jazz musicians, his projects have featured the likes of Kurt Rosenwinkel and Joe Lovano, hip hop star Talib Kweli and even the film great, Liam Neeson. He’s also appeared in the European groups of jazz icons such as Jesse van Ruller, Soweto Kinch and Jonathan Kreisberg.

David returns to Brilliant Corners for his first Belfast appearance in two years. His performance includes new music commissioned by Moving on Music (celebrating 10 years of Brilliant Corners) and features two of the world’s most highly regarded jazz musicians – Gwilym Simcock and Orlando le Fleming. Pianist Gwilym Simcock was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2011 and is currently a member of guitarist Pat Metheny’s group. Orlando le Fleming is one of today’s most in demand bassists and was a high-profile force on the New York jazz scene for twenty years until his recent move to the UK.

“…the best in jazz coming out of Ireland today.” – The Independent
