Ranelagh Arts Festival: Johnny Taylor Trio

About this event

The Johnny Taylor trio weaves together jazz standards in the tradition of the great piano trios of the past and imbues them with influences of gospel and soul music.

They are interested in the areas where these styles overlap and broaden the musical language, as well as the relationship between arranged musical structures and room for spontaneous improvising and interaction amongst the trio in the moment. Expect moments of dynamism and drive mixed with moments of contemplative spaciousness, a rhythmic fire with an expansive spirit.
