About this event
Moving on Music's Brilliant Corners Jazz festival presents...
Joseph Leighton is one of the finest young jazz guitarists to emerge on the Irish jazz scene.
Selected as one of Moving On Music’s ‘Emerging Artists’ in 2016, Joseph was one of the youngest musicians ever to be awarded a place at the Banff Centre, Canada. Having since studied with the likes of David Lyttle, Mike Walker, Vijay Iyer and Jesse Van Ruller, Leighton has swiftly developed his own voice mixing traditional and contemporary approaches and performing a combination of jazz standards with original material. This concert will see joseph joined by fellow Moving on Music ‘Emerging Artist’ Jack Kelly on bass and Joel Waters on drums.
“…the guitarist has at least one foot in the modernists’ camp. The other is firmly planted in a tradition that stretches from Jim Hall to Pat Metheny”
