Album Launch - Part of The Whole

About this event

Jennifer McMahon is an Irish vocalist and composer whose music blends genres from jazz and soul to theatre. As a contemporary artist, she continues to explore the capabilities of the voice as an instrument. ‘Part of The Whole’ is her debut album.

Often inspired lyrically by life experiences, compositionally by emotion and exploration and rhythmically by driving grooves and natural movement, Jennifer’s music has become a cross over of genres bringing drama through jazz, improv through soundscapes with a touch of soul for good measure. At the heart of it is the human experience, living it, witnessing it and sharing it: the light in the dark, the beauty in sadness, the turbulence in stillness.

Jennifer says her music is always evolving: seeking out new vehicles of form, style, interpretation and weaving it into the fabric of her artistry.

‘Part of The Whole’ is a musical exploration into love, loss and togetherness with tinges of jazz, samba, soul and beyond, delivered with an empowering vulnerability. This self-produced album features 20 international musicians hailing from all corners of the globe: Hong Kong, USA, Columbia, UK, Virgin Islands, Slovenia, Ireland, the list goes on.

With a voice equally as delicate as it can be powerful, Jennifer brings you on a journey from the most vulnerable places to the most empowering. Join her on August 18th at Bello Bar for the launch of 'Part of The Whole' with guest musicians.

Support on the night from Ruba Shamshoum, playing a stripped down duo set of her original music, which draws from jazz harmonies and Arabic melodious grooves.

“Vocalist and composer Ruba Shamshoum represents the crest of a new wave in Irish creative music.”
