About this event
After a two-year hiatus, Northern Ireland’s biggest and best Jazz Festival returns to the walled city this May Bank Holiday weekend and, once again, the Magee campus will be hosting one of the festival’s Jazz Hubs.
We’re particularly proud that this year’s Hub programme will feature two evenings of performances by locally and internationally acclaimed jazz musicians all of whom have, at one time or another, studied Music at Ulster University. In addition, we will be hosting an exclusive workshop with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and their composer/arranger in-residence, Olivia Murphy who will be giving a masterclass in song writing and arranging focused around their current project, a UK-wide tour of the music of Amy Winehouse arranged for 24-piece jazz band.
Finally, The Hub presents The MingUUs Project, a musical tribute to the legendary composer & bassist, Charles Mingus to mark the centenary of his birth featuring the UU Jazz Band, IPO ensemble and Magee alumni led by Dr. Rob Casey and Dr. Adam Melvin.
Do please lend your support to what promises to be an incredible weekend of music.
All concerts are free and will take place in the Great Hall, Magee campus
