The Carole Nelson Trio New Album Launch - Arboreal - February 20th 2020 @Arthurs Blues and Jazz Club, Dublin
Carole Nelson: piano, composition, vocal
Cormac O'Brien: bass
Dominic Mullan: drums
The Carole Nelson Trio are launching their second album Arboreal, following on from their 2017 debut album, One Day in Winter.
Arboreal was recorded with support from the Irish Arts Council and Carlow Arts. It begins with the feeling for place, for the local, then widens its scope to engage with current pressing issues of climate change and species loss. Carole's compositions remain lyrical and open, inviting Dominic Mullan, drums and Cormac O'Brien, bass to engage with flow and feeling.
One Day in Winter, is a elegiac meditation on the season
– Cormac Larkin, Irish Times
“One Day In Winter is the sort of recording that keeps one on the edge of their seat throughout. The trio brings a deep empathy with European Jazz-making on one hand - the sparseness and melodicism, while keeping the tradition of Jazz music at the fore and even making space for Irish traditional elements.”
Daniel Rorke, Jazz Ireland
