About this event
Belfast blues guitarist Ronnie Greer has been at the centre of the blues scene in Ireland for over 40 years now. In the last few years he has also become more and more a feature on the jazz scene as well, culminating in the release of his new album, Ronnie Greer, The Jazz Project,
which gets it's Dublin launch with tonight's gig. Ronnie's distinctive guitar style, which has been critically acclaimed as world class, has always contained a strong jazz influenced element, and on this album, he takes that a step further by making the swinging Blue Note style jazz of the 50's and 60's the main inspiration, while still retaining that essential blues feel and soul which epitomises his playing. Ronnie has also surrounded himself on the album with some of Ireland's very finest jazz musicians, all of whom appear with him tonight. Scott Flanigan on Hammond organ, Richie Buckley on tenor sax, Linley Hamilton on trumpet and Dominic Mullan on the drums.
