Acoustronic at the Derry Jazz Festival

About this event

For this year's Derry Jazz Festival, Ulster University is showcasing its new jazz hub, located in the Great Hall at Magee.

The most exciting of the many performances due at the Jazz Hub is Acoustronic's collaboration with the Lewis Smith Quartet.

Acoustronic are a group of five disabled performers who work on the international stage with other international performers. Their most recent appearances have been with the Benyounes String Quartet in Dublin, London and Lisbon.

Saxophonist Lewis Smith will be performing works by many of jazz' saxophone legends with his quartet but the highlight will most definitely be the debut of his new composition with Acoustronic.

Expect hand detection devices, electronics, jazz, new music and a lot noise and fun. You will never have heard a big band quite like this one.

Featuring: Scott Flanigan on Piano, Darren Beckett on Drums and Rohan Armstrong on Bass
