The Dirty Jazz club have been a massive part of the Dublin Jazz scene for around 15 years. Their focus is on the exploration and deconstruction of songs and an emphasis on creating a depth and textural soundscape on the melody, form and feel of the tunes.

Deriving from Ireland’s original Guinness Jazz Band, so popular in the 80’s and 90’s, they have played and continue to play major jazz festivals, jazz clubs throughout Europe, with regular performances in Germany, Scandinavia, the UK, and Ireland.

Getz/Gilberto (1964) marks the moment bossa nova moved from Brazil into the centre of international jazz. By bringing Stan Getz together with João Gilberto and Antônio Carlos Jobim, it introduced a new rhythmic feel and a quieter, more spacious approach to improvisation at a time when jazz was generally louder and more aggressive. “The Girl from Ipanema” became a global hit, but the album’s importance is bigger than the single: it changed how jazz musicians thought about time, texture, and restraint, and it opened the door for a long period of cross-Brazilian collaborations in the jazz world.

The Hot House Big Band, Ireland’s most exciting big band, is comprised of seventeen full time professional musicians and, since their launch in early 2010 they have been amazing their audiences with their skill and competence. The leader of the band, Mark Wilde, brings an ever changing repertoire to the bandstand courtesy of his large library of arrangements so there is always something new for the many afficianados that throng this big band’s many shows.

This is improvised music that ebbs and flows in a creative way, always searching for a new area to explore. Each member of the ensemble has worked in many different settings with some of the leading jazz and improvised musics performers.

Red Line Jazz are a hard-swinging quartet of Dublin professionals playing a repitoire of hard-bop, post-bop, and contemporary jazz. The band changes it up every week, but the vibe stays the same; serious swing, serious sound!
